Flowers do more than decorate a wedding. They create atmosphere, shape the way a space feels and bring a couple’s vision to life through colour, texture, movement and form.

At Floral Architecture, we approach wedding flowers as an integral part of the overall experience. From considered bouquets and ceremony arrangements to immersive floral installations, each element is designed to work in harmony with its surroundings and reflect the character of the day.

Our approach is guided by the beauty of the natural world, the changing seasons and an appreciation for the imperfect. We love working with flowers and foliage in ways that feel expressive, artful and full of life, creating floral experiences that leave a lasting impression.

My love of flowers began long before Floral Architecture. My mother was a florist, and some of my earliest memories are of being immersed in her world of flowers.

As a child, I would hear my Mum getting ready for the early morning flower market and be up and waiting, ready to go with her. I made it difficult for her to leave without me. Eventually, on market mornings, I would hear a quiet knock on my bedroom door as Mum began to get ready, and a cup of tea would soon follow. By then, she had accepted that this was simply how things were going to be.

At 12 years old, Mum got me my very own market pass, and I officially became a member of the Melbourne Flower Market. Looking back, it feels only natural that flowers would become such a big part of my life.

My connection to flowers also runs through my childhood memories of spending every spare moment with my Pop, who was a chrysanthemum grower. We would lose time together amongst the chrysanthemums, often only brought back to the present by a gentle call from my Nan reminding us lunch was ready.

Even now, as an adult, my happy place is still spending time amongst the flowers in Mum's garden, the familiar scent of daphne on a winter's day, the vibrant purple of the lilac that fills the garden with colour in spring and the wild rose bush of Lorraine Lee that reminds me that warmer days are coming. I love the time of year when the magnolia returns to flower as I open the gate to my Nan's, its abundance of colour just as I remember from childhood. Wandering through my aunty's wild and enchanting garden, looking for hidden and new blooms, with each discovery feeling like finding treasure. These flowers carry fond memories, with little pieces of the past. Between Mum's florist shop, the early morning flower market and time I spent in the gardens of the people I love, I grew up surrounded by flowers and the memories that continue to shape my love of floristry.

When Alice and I met, we discovered a shared love and passion for flowers. Together, we created Floral Architecture, bringing our ideas and creativity together to build a business that reflected our vision for wedding and event flowers.

Over the years, Floral Architecture has continued to evolve, shaped by the weddings and events we've been part of, the people we've met and the creative experiences that have influenced our journey.

Today, that same love of flowers remains at the heart of everything we do. I'm drawn to their natural beauty, their imperfections and the way they change with the seasons. This appreciation for the imperfect, the impermanent and the incomplete — the Japanese philosophy of Wabi-Sabi — continues to inspire our work.
